TacStrike Steel Target Systems are designed for high round count use. There are many ways for our target systems to be used in recreation and sport but our main focus is reality based training. Instructors and Schools around the country have figured out that TacStrike Target Systems stand up to the abuse of high round count training.
A Few Thoughts on Training with Steel from Renowned Instructor and Industry Professional Pat Goodale: Owner of Practical Firearms Training PFT
Training on steel target systems offers 4 significant advantages that most experienced instructors recognize. These are:
1. Instant visual and audible feedback to the shooter. This reinforces positive behavior and greatly speeds the process of what we call at PFT 'programming the subconscious for success'.
2. Much more efficient use of training time. When shooting steel there is no need for the shooter to physically approach/touch the target resulting in more time spent actually training.
3. Quicker improvement in the shooter's technical shooting skills. The old saying that 'steel makes you fast, but paper keeps you honest' is only partially true. When conducted in a structured training environment, steel shooting improves both accuracy and speed more quickly than paper due to the multiple sensory inputs it provides. In our experience, shooters transition to subconscious ability (the accuracy/speed balance) more efficiently and quickly on steel. They like the visual/audible feedback and the brain translates that to 'fun' resulting in much faster progress.
4. Durability. While a larger upfront cost, the acquisition of high quality steel target systems are a much better long term investment and can be used for many years. At PFT, we have steel on our range that is 20 years old and still completely serviceable.
